Our Team

Siobhan Green (Co-Owner) CEO, Lead Technology Strategist and Information Architect

Siobhan has over 15 years of experience managing and developing programs in international development, working with international non-profits, for-profits, USAID, World Health Organization, UNAIDS, World Bank, Unesco, and various foundations. She holds a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and a Master’s in Anthropology of Development from University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), where she received a distinction on her Master’s thesis on Policy Perspectives on the Use of the Internet in Africa.

Over the course of her career in international development, and most recently with her work for the Academy for Educational Development’s DOT-COM Alliance, she has gained a great deal of experience in how information technology can be used for social benefit – both in regard to improving program performance and in service deliver to target beneficiaries. Due to her intimate understanding of the “business” of international development, Siobhan is well placed to help development professionals use technology in appropriate, cost effective, and sustainable ways which meet programmatic and funder requirements. She has lived, worked, and/or traveled overseas in Africa, Asia, Europe/Eurasia, and Latin America and speaks French at a Foreign Service Grade 3 level.

Siobhan has managed the development of complex information systems and teams, including needs assessments, training, and workflow and business process evaluation. She has a great deal of experience with Information Architecture, usability studies, Section 508 Compliance, and US Government/USAID Information Technology and branding requirements. She is also able to program in PHP and is highly proficient in HTML, XHTML, and Cascading Style Sheets.

Siobhan is a citizen of the United States and currently holds a full USAID work authorization.

Andrew Green (Co-Owner) President, Software Architect and Lead Developer

Andrew has been programming computers since he was nine years old. He has a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Bath, UK. He has 14 years of professional experience developing software for a variety of industries, including international development, biometrics, online collaboration environments, web development, financial systems, and geological research.

Andrew combines his deep understanding of technological systems with an understanding of customer needs – spoken and unspoken. He has strong skills in determining feasible and cost effective methods of achieving high impact technological solutions, using the resources and constraints facing any industry or company.

Andrew’s software experience includes work with PHP, Java, JSP, J2EE, C++, C#, Visual Basic, ASP.NET, Perl/CGI, ColdFusion, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and MS Access. He also learns new technologies on an ongoing basis. He has led software development teams of various sizes, including overseas outsourced partners.

Andrew is a naturalized citizen of the United States and currently holds a full USAID work authorization.

Stephanie DeMoss, Director of Research and Content Management

Stephanie manages research and content management activities for Sonjara. With a Masters from Cambridge University (UK), and two Bachelor degrees from Boston Univeristy, Stephanie has over 10 years of experience managing a diversity of research and writing projects, with special emphasis on the environment, international development, health, and ICTs for Development.

At Sonjara, Stephanie leads content management activities, involving original research, writing/editing, analysis, and coordination of content gathering with clients and partners. She works in a variety of media and content types: from formal academic/research materials to "gray" literature. Prior to joining Sonjara, Stephanie worked with USAID, AED, the International Economic Council, University of Maryland’s Center for International Development and Conflict Management, and the Mineral Policy Center.

Stephanie is a citizen of the United States and currently holds a full USAID work authorization.

Margie Joyce, Director of Instructional Design and E-Learning

Margie is a senior instructional designer/learning strategist with over 15 years experience designing learning and performance support solutions in corporate, non-profit and international settings. Margie works with clients to identify and analyze their business or learning needs, formulate sound learning requirements, and collaborates to design solutions that address those needs. She has designed for a variety of media and delivery options including instructor-led training, web-based training, online toolkits, online communities of practices, blended learning and e-learning tutorials. Margie’s instructional design knowledge is complemented by her graphic and interface design skills and her commitment to excellent client service. She also keeps pace with emerging learning technologies and continues to explore the unique opportunities available in Web 2.0 and multi-user virtual worlds for learning.

As a senior program officer with the Academy for Educational Development (AED,) Margie has provided technical assistance to several international education projects including Education Reform for the Knowledge Economy (Erfke) in Jordan, ICTs for Teacher Training in Indonesia, Connectivity for Teacher Training in Uganda, ICT-in-Education Assessment in Kenya, South East Asian Initative for Energy training program and the production of multimedia materials for tribal youth in Jharkhand, India as part of the USAID/dot-EDU initiative.

Before joining Sonjara, Margie worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Senior Learning Strategist where she received a Performance Excellence Award for her work. She earned a B.A. at the University of Montana in Linguistics and Masters of Education in Instructional Technology at George Mason University. She has certifications in Kirkpatrick Four Level Evaluation and Second Life Design. She speaks basic Mandarin Chinese and lived in China and Taiwan for 2.5 years.

Margie is a citizen of the United States and currently holds a full USAID work authorization.

Heather Patterson, Director of Operations and Office Manager

Heather has 12 years of experience in office management, project controlling for government contracts and a strong background in administrative organization.  Heather's strong communication skills allow her to better assess the needs of Sonjara as we grow and develop additional products and skills.

Heather earned her B.A. from Radford University, and worked in Human Services for a number of years.  When she made the transition from direct care to Operations, she worked for a diverse range of companies, including Deloitte & Touche, Deloitte Consulting, DCS Corporation, and API, and has provided Operations services to fields from architecture to tax preparation.

She brings strong organizational skills coupled with an attention to detail, and a love of process and efficient function.  She is fluent in ASL and speaks limited French.  Heather is a citizen of the United States.

Jo Namio, Web Developer/Graphic Designer

Jo is a web developer/graphic designer with over 20 years experience designing and developing educational and promotional materials for print and for the web.

She has worked with major univerities developing content management systems and design branding methods, and assisted in the private sector with public relations, promotion and e-commerce design and development. Jo has, over the last decade, worked with professional athletes, coaches, academics and business professionals to design, enhance and promote their web presence.

Jo was the publisher for a small press organization in the Midwest, which produced chapbooks, literary journals and academic based publications. She is publisher/author of several short story collections, a poetry chapbook, and is completing her first novel.

As Co-Chairperson for the Minnesota Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign, Jo actively participated in their educational campaigns, fundraising efforts, outreach programs and Speakers Bureau. She also worked with Woman Against Military Madness and the Clean Water Action Committee in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and acted as a delegate to two state political conventions.

Jo attended University of Wisconsin, Winona State University in Minnesota, and Arizona State University, with majors in Psychology and History and a minor in Political Science. Her concentrations were child psychology and French history, specializing in the French Revolution and Napoleon.

Jo is a citizen of the United States.

Sally Clarke, Web Developer and Content Editor

Sally Clarke coordinates web projects, content management and other support for Sonjara's clients. Before joining Sonjara, she was with the Newspaper Association of America, where she designed and edited reports on digital media, and maintained newsvoyager.com and growingaudience.org. From 2002 - 2006, Sally was a communications analyst supporting the Knowledge for Development team for Development Information Services (DIS.) This project was implemented by the Academy for Educational Development in parternship with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID.)


A lifetime Arlington resident, Sally is active in her community and volunteers her event planning and web skills for organizations including the Girl Scouts, Animal Welfare League and Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment.

Sally is a citizen of the United States.
