Sonjara CEO Siobhan Green Wins Women in Technology Global Impact Award

Annandale, VA  -- Siobhan Green, CEO and Lead Technology Strategist and Information Architect of Sonjara Inc., was honored with the Women in Technology Global Impact Award at a gala awards ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA on May 20, 2010.

Women in Technology (WIT) is the premier organization contributing to the success of professional women in the Washington technology community. The 2010 WIT Leadership Awards honor 12 outstanding women who have excelled as mentors, leaders, and role models in their professional endeavors and communities, and who embody the WIT mission.

"The awardees are true architects of change in the technology community and representative of WIT's new mantra: advancing technology one woman at a time. We congratulate them and include them among a decade of WIT's leading women," said Toni Townes-Whitley, president of WIT.

The Global Impact Award honors a woman who is using or developing technology to make an impact across international borders and who has advanced her career beyond typical performance expectations (including work in the community) at the global level. Siobhan shares her award with Dr. Susan Aldridge, President of the University of Maryland University College.

"Sitting among such accomplished, intelligent, and innovative women, I could really feel the power of change in that room," Siobhan remarked. "The award ceremony was a humbling and inspiring experience; I now think of all the things I am dreaming of doing."

Awardees were asked to share a quote meaningful to them when receiving their award.  Said Siobhan, "My quote is from my mother, with a codicil I added:  'If you see a barrier, go over it. If you cannot go over it, go under it. If you cant go under it, go around it. If you can't go around it, go through it.'

"But, first make sure that whatever is on the other side is worth all the effort."

ABC 7 news anchor Maureen Bunyan, who emceed the event, noted that Siobhan's quote added practicality to her mom's inspiring words.
